These agencies are teams unto themselves but ever able to regroup and to expand their team approach wherever the assignment or emergency might be.
On any given day, the roles of responsibility can be reversed in an instant with the same precision and coordination. The various agencies worked as a unit with the solitary focus of public safety for the Laconia community that fateful morning. The officers also exhibited such compassion for the tragedy with which they were dealing. The officers never missed a step in maintaining the highest level of professionalism, expertise and responsibility.

The TAR Team provided highly professional and expert analysis of the Parade Road incident to assist on-site investigators. At this time, the Belknap County Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team arrived to further enhance the investigation. Dispatcher Smith took calls, did research from assignments directed by the field officer, assigned responses and took further directions as to the personnel from the field from Sgt. At the same time, officers from these agencies were receiving support from the NH Liquor Enforcement Investigator, Kirk Hart, as the symphony of cooperation continued through the early hours of the morning.Īs the officers continued their investigation of Parade Road, additional police officers from Laconia Police Department responded to an assault with backup obtained from Trooper Shaw.Īll these calls were being answered a Laconia dispatch by the multi-tasked Dispatcher, Kenneth Smith. The coordination and cooperation was accomplished at the highest level of professionalism with the assistance of Trooper Shaw. While those departments were thoroughly engaged, NH State Police personnel were responding to incidents as backup for the Laconia Police Department. Al Lessard adeptly accomplished the coordination of the various departments' personnel. During the attention to that location, the Laconia Police Department requested and received the support of Gilford Police Department and Meredith Police Department. As the press has related, a tragic incident occurred on Parade Road. What is important here is our citizens' understanding and appreciation of the men and women of our law enforcement communities.
